An old photo of Örn's father with his 1955 Type 180D
Örn writes: "Here is a photo of the car that started my Ponton interest. My father bought this 180D (diesel) new in 1955. He was not a taxi driver, but chose the diesel engine due to its reliability in the cold and damp Icelandic weather. The photo was taken in Sweden in 1958 when my parents had a vacation there."

"I enclose two more photos of my 190 Ponton."
Örn and his family on "special clothing day" (summer 2001) with the Antique Automobile Club of Iceland. One day a year, the club gets dressed up in clothing from the same period as the car they are driving. They usually end the day at a nice restaurant. "I would say that my family clothing could easily be called the Ponton-outfit!" To the left, you can see Rúnar Sigurjónsson's restored 1959 Type 180a Ponton.
This photo was taken during one of the weekend trips of our fine club. It shows well the luggage rack I found and restored last spring. It was made in the 1950s and fits just fine on the Ponton roof!

At an opening ceremony for a new Mercedes-Benz dealership here in Reykjavik (early March 2005), my Type 190 Ponton sedan was a part of the show, as a symbol of the lifelong quality and workmanship of the Mercedes-Benz brand. As the only classic car around, it drew a lot of attention and was considered by many the roomiest car of the show. The tallest men appreciated very much the excellent head room of the Ponton, which the modern models seem to be lacking more and more. Here are a few photographs from the ceremony.

This photo was taken at an old farmhouse, called Stony Hill. Once on the outskirts of the city, it is now in the middle of it. For the past 60 years it has been used as a kindergarten.
